President Museveni set to address the nation on Saturday

Head of state President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to address the country this Saturday in relation to the Covid-19 situation.

Basing on the President Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi, the president shall address the country come this Saturday and his address shall be aired on all local radio and television stations.

“@KagutaMuseveni will address the Nation this Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 8 pm on #COVID-19 and any other related issues. The address will be live on all Television and Radio stations Tune in,” read a tweet by Nabusayi.

Although the date for the address by President Museveni has been set for 31st July, this will be two days after the end of the mandatory lockdown that was imposed by President Museveni set to end on 29th of this month.

Another anonymous source from within the confines of State House had informed media that the president may address the country before Saturday as it has been communicated by the PPS.

“The President will address us on Friday, but if not possible then he will settle for Saturday, but he is yet to decide,” the source revealed while speaking of the presidential address in relation to the lockdown.

Towards the end of month, the country registered a surge in the number of people suffering from COVID-19 which was also relative to the number of people dying from the deadly virus in the country.

Due to this, the President was prompted to impose a 42-days lockdown with an aim of reducing on the number of people suffering from covid-19. 11 days into the lockdown, the President decided to impose the 42 day lockdown afresh.

With hopes the the lockdown maybe lifted, lifting the lockdown has been met with a lot of opposition majorly because the country is yet to accomplish the target number of people to be vaccinated.
