Uganda and DRC Launch Inter-country Infrastructure

President Museveni has today 16th June 2021 alongside the DRC president Felix Tshisekedi commissioned infrastructure that will link the two countries together.

Uganda has been a major sector player in the East African region undoubtedly and continues to be more pro regional development.

“With H.E Felix Antoine Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we commissioned a road infrastructure connectivity project covering the Mpondwe/Kasindi-Beni Road (80km); the Bunagana-Rutshuru-Goma road (89km and the Beni-Butembo Axis.”President Museveni tweeted.

The President went ahead to say that the people of Uganda and DRC have existed as neighbors. He also added that they have been interlinked since time immemorial.

These roads are expected to boost trade and socioeconomic transformation among the two countries once completed. Mr Museveni added that he expected these roads to impact the lives of people from the different countries positively.

“These projects will cause tremendous social-economic transformation of the lives of the people in the two countries. I thank H.E Tshisekedi for bringing Congo into the East African Community and for.”president Museveni concluded.

Uganda has embarked on developing infrastructure with neighboring countries ever since her relations with Rwanda soured.

Her produce and traders have been massively affected after Rwanda closed the Katuna border.

Uganda is also in talks with Burundi to construct a road that connects the two countries via Tanzania.
