Nile Breweries Limited the makers of Nile and Club beer yesterday made a contribution to the government in the fight against COVID 19.

This was through a donation of oxygen cylinders worth Shs 333,000,000 million.

The donation was flagged off by the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja and Mr Onapito Ekolomoit the Legal and Corporate Affairs Director of Nile Breweries.

The cylinders numbered 300 in total and are expected to help the national task force in the fight against COVID 19 countrywide.

Prime Minister Nabbanja while receiving this donation thanked Nile Breweries for supporting government efforts in the fight against COVID 19.

She was optimistic that these cylinders will go along way in helping to fight against the deadly virus.

“I want to thank NBL for joining hands with government in the fight against this pandemic. Thank you so much. This donation will go a long way in supporting Gov’t efforts to respond better to COVID 19.” Hon. Robinah Nabbanja said.

While handing over these cylinders, Mr Ekomoloit said that it was their pleasure as a corporate entity to support the government’s efforts in the fight against COVID 19.

He said that Nile Breweries has been assisting government in the different districts of the country with a number of amenities just as they did in the last lockdown.

“We supported ICU at Mulago with Ugx. 30m worth of equipment. We’ve been supporting the task force in Kampala, Buikwe and Mbarara with fuel to monitor coordination. We also supported with food during the last lockdown. We are therefore glad to make such another contribution of these cylinders.” Mr. Onapito Ekomoloit said.

Ever since the first lockdown was declared last year, a number of companies have been coming out to assist the government through financial or materialistic assistance.

And with the lack/ insufficiency of oxygen having been an issue in the past few weeks and days in different hospitals in the country, these oxygen cylinders will indeed go along way in helping the government to fight against COVID 19.
